AI use is expanding rapidly in K–12 education, yet many school and district leaders are still developing the guidance, training, and safeguards needed for responsible implementation. This training is planned for supervisors, principals, and assistant principals and will focus on how leaders can strategically use AI tools while also guiding safe, ethical, and effective use in schools and districts. Participants will examine practical leadership applications, including lesson-planning support, scheduling, educator feedback, evaluation support, professional learning, and stakeholder communication.

 The session will also address key risks leaders must manage, including privacy concerns, misinformation, inaccuracy, academic integrity, equity, and the limitations of poorly written prompts. Participants will begin with an overview of artificial intelligence use in K–12 public schools, learn how to create a five-step plan to encourage responsible AI use in their school or district, and hear from leaders who have used AI successfully to improve feedback, streamline scheduling, and support timely evaluation processes within Tennessee’s TEAM model. The session will include leadership examples from Cleveland City Schools and presentations from TETA leadership. Participants will also explore practical ways to improve leadership work with AI while identifying common AI governance challenges schools and districts should avoid.
