Leading Learning: SPED, 504, School Culture, and Student Services will bring TOSS ALI subscribers together to learn from three accomplished school and district leaders whose work directly reflects the session title.

Each presenter has been recognized as a Supervisor of the Year or Principal of the Year finalist, bringing current, practitioner-based leadership examples to the session. Melinda Hutcherson, Assistant Superintendent in Lauderdale County Schools, will connect the learning through the broader student services and district leadership lens by sharing how partnerships between general education, special education, voluntary pre-K, and related student support services can improve outcomes for students.

Rebecca Scott, principal at the University of Memphis Campus School, will focus on developing a strong school and community culture, including how principals build leadership teams, strengthen relationships, and create conditions that support student learning.

Wendy Wilkerson, Director of SPED and 504 Coordinator for Tullahoma City Schools, will share leadership practices related to special education, Section 504, student supports, and collaboration across school and district teams. Together, these presenters will help supervisors, principals, assistant principals, and district leaders examine practical, evidence-informed strategies for leading learning across SPED, 504, school culture, and student services.

Participants will reflect with colleagues, connect the examples to their own local contexts, and identify specific leadership practices they can use to strengthen collaboration, standards mastery, student engagement, support systems, and continuous improvement.

This event is designed as a stand-alone professional learning opportunity, but it is intentionally timed to give TOSS ALI subscribers an opening day of learning before a second SPED, 504, and Title IX learning opportunity on December 10, 2026, featuring Shaundraya Hersey and Taylor Jenkins.
