Setting the Stage for Success: The assistant principal’s role in the elementary school environment

  • Virtual Zoom Event (map)

Setting the Stage for Success: The assistant principal’s role in the elementary school environment is designed for assistant principals serving in elementary school settings. This professional learning opportunity will focus on the unique leadership responsibilities of elementary assistant principals as they help create the conditions for schoolwide success, support instructional priorities, strengthen student and family supports, communicate effectively with staff and families, and contribute to a positive elementary learning environment.

Presenters Megan Hardy of FarrarElementary School in Tullahoma City Schools, Cindy Osborn of Cherokee Elementary School in Johnson City Schools, and Ashlea Graves of Lenoir City Elementary School in Lenoir City Schools will share practical examples from their leadership experience in elementary settings. Through their school-based perspectives, participants will examine strategies for supporting teachers and students, strengthening communication and collaboration, using data and reflection to guide decisions, and balancing the daily demands of the assistant principal role with long-term goals for student success and school improvement.

Participants will have opportunities to reflect on their own leadership responsibilities, learn from the presenters, and connect with peers around common challenges and effective practices for setting the stage for success in the elementary assistant principal role. While designed for elementary assistant principals, this event is appropriate for school leaders in any role who support instructional leadership, student supports, and school improvement.
