The High School Assistant Principal Role: Leading, Planning, and Growth

  • Virtual Zoom Event (map)

The High School Assistant Principal Role: Leading, Planning, and Growth is designed for assistant principals serving in grades 9–12 or high school settings. This professional learning opportunity will focus on the unique leadership responsibilities of high school assistant principals as they support instructional priorities, coordinate schoolwide systems, communicate with staff, students, and families, and contribute to continued school growth. Presenters Harley Simbeck of Loretto High School, Zach Tippitt of McKenzie High School, and Kim Brite of Summertown High School will share practical examples from their leadership experience in high school settings.

Through their school-based perspectives, participants will examine strategies for planning effectively, supporting teachers and students, using data and communication to guide decisions, and balancing the daily demands of the assistant principal role with long-term goals for student success and school improvement. Participants will have opportunities to reflect on their own leadership responsibilities, learn from the presenters, and connect with peers around common challenges and effective practices for leading, planning, and growth in the high school assistant principal role. While designed for high school assistant principals, this event is appropriate for school leaders in any role who support instructional planning, student supports, and school improvement.
