Learn from Writing: ELA and STEM Program Learning Blade - Middle

The session combines information about Learning Blade, a free resource for Tennessee, with ways teachers can use it to support literacy instruction in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and ELA.  The program, focused on career clusters for grades 4-9 and aligned to state standards, takes students through a discovery of 12 relevant career clusters and the underlying jobs that make up each career. It includes scenarios that are supported with vocabulary, multiple choice quizzes, and writing prompts. Students work independently and the program generates standards-based reports showing their progress. 

In the second part of the session, we will show how ELA can use features of Learning Blade to teach content reading, vocabulary development, and practice with writing. The format of these features mimics parts of TNReady assessments.
