POSTPONED: Trauma Informed Training with Mathew Portell - WEST

  • The STAR Center 1119 Old Humboldt Road Jackson, TN, 38305 United States (map)

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND GUIDELINES OF NOT HAVING LARGE GROUP MEETINGS, WE ARE POSTPONING THIS EVENT UNTIL FALL AND/OR SPRING 2020/2021.

We apologize for an inconvenience, but we have posted and will be posting, more virtual options soon to receive TASL credits during this fiscal year.

Mathew Portell has dedicated over a decade to education in his role as a teacher, instructional coach, teacher mentor, and school administrator. He currently serves as executive principal of Fall-Hamilton Elementary, an innovative trauma-informed pilot school in Nashville, Tennessee, which was recently featured on Edutopia.

In 2008, he combined his passion for literacy and cycling and founded the double award-winning nonprofit Ride for Reading. The organization promotes literacy and healthy living through the distribution of books via bicycle to underserved children. Ride for Reading has donated nearly 500,000 books to children nationally.

Mathew Portell first presented to TOSS ALI members in Middle Tennessee in 2016 as a part of our ‘best practices’ networking events. He is returning to us for two very special days of Trauma Informed Practices training by popular request.  We can only get him for two days, so I picked locations where you can travel easily and stay for a reasonable price. This day is worth your time and effort, for you are hearing from a man who chooses to live and practice what he preaches. He will help you see how this work can and should change your school, its staff, and your families.

We have room for 200+ at each event and we hope to fill them both so register early.

***TASL Credit Approved***
