Students who have access to an extensive, diverse classroom library comprised of authentic texts, read more widely for a variety of purposes, demonstrate more positive attitudes toward reading, and score higher on standardized tests of reading achievement. “The amount and frequency with which one reads, or one’s reading volume, has profound implications for the development of a wide variety of cognitive capabilities, including verbal ability and general knowledge.” (Dr. Anne Cunningham and Dr. Jamie Zibulsky, Book Smart: How to Develop and Support Successful, Motivated Readers) Join us for an interactive session as we explore and share information about the why, how, and what of classroom libraries.
