If you have ever worried about your school safety plan as you work with your team, your staff, or your students, then this is the event for you! Joining Dr. Shelton on August 24 will be Mike Herrmann and Russell Jenkins. Mike Herrmann will speak to us about a US Department of Justice grant that TOSS (with several other partners) recently received to provide Behavioral Threat Assessment training at no cost to school community teams. The overarching purpose of these teams is to identify and assist troubled individuals. Because research demonstrates a strong correlation between self-harm and harm to others, the training program includes a section devoted to suicide prevention training. Russell Jenkins will act as our best practice presenter on Safety in Schools and Systems. Russell was nominated by his former director before he left his position, and he has agreed to present even though he is in the first days of his new job as Superintendent of Schools in Roane County.
