New Leaders, a national non-profit specializing in school leader effectiveness, has been partnering with TDOE, TOSS, and Tennessee districts to provide superintendents with tools and training to implement a rigorous, competency-based approach to hiring principals and assistant principals. With generous funding from TDOE and the Kern Family Foundation, these tools are available to all school districts in Tennessee free of charge. Candidates provide concrete evidence of results in previous roles and show their skills in practice. Districts get a detailed profile of each candidate measured against rigorous selection criteria. Districts get an assessment of their leadership pipeline.
