Licensure Session

Following up from the superintendents’ conference presentation, TDOE human capital leadership, in collaboration with TOSS, will be engaging superintendents and human resources directors on current licensure needs to inform proposed changes to SBE policy.

In addition, TDOE will present an overview on current options that districts can explore based on the newly published licensure handbook.

Teacher Ethics Session

Teaching has always been a profession dependent on rich human interactions between colleagues, students, and even parents. Research indicates teachers make thousands of decisions daily around these interactions, many exposing teachers to a variety of ethical issues. With the introduction of technology, particularly social and digital media, many of these decisions can have significant consequences for the school and district.

The ProEthica Program is designed to guide decision-making around these ethical issues to recognize and mitigate professional risk, and support student safety and welfare. This multi-year professional development program helps educators learn how to apply professional ethics and a decision-making framework to skillfully deal with the many ethical dilemmas they face in their schools, with colleagues, students and even in the local community, on both a daily basis and throughout their careers.

Through a structure that provides opportunity and encourages thoughtful discourse with colleagues and administrators, the ProEthica program illustrates how best to navigate the ethical complexities of the profession and includes modules and materials for both the individual as well as supporting group discussion.

Lunch and CEO credit will be provided (not TASL credit however).
