Joins us on October 12th for a day dedicated to improving Literacy in Tennessee. We know as leaders we have to provide opportunities for the students of Tennessee to prosper in the 21st Century and in order to do that we have to have literate students. We need to get Tennessee Reading and in preparation we have assembled a special day dedicated to promoting “Leaders in Literacy!” The day will consist of discussions and presentations from experts in the field of fluency, engaging struggling readers, differentiate reading instruction and the importance of summer reading.
We welcome Dr. Tim Rasinski, professor of literacy education at Kent State University, as he discusses the importance of fluency, strategies for engaging all students especially struggling readers and practical applications for the classroom. In addition, Jason Turner, Professional Development Director with MetaMetrics, will walk us through the research that supports literacy, key aspects in the Lexile Framework for Reading, targeting text difficulty and personalizing reading for each student.
