Part 1 (Sept. 15)- Analyzing Virtual Instruction: What are the shifts to consider when evaluating virtual lessons?
Session Description: The purpose of this session is to discuss how to capture evidence in a virtual setting to support teachers. Once your school/district has established the expectations around virtual teaching the next step is to capture evidence of virtual teaching in order to provide high-quality feedback with a tool teachers are familiar with. Our hopes are that you walk away with your next steps to support teachers in a positive, strengths-based manner while we all learn virtual teaching together.
Participants will:
• Explain the similarities and differences when capturing evidence between virtual lessons and in-person lessons.
• Understand when and how to capture evidence when evaluating virtual lessons.
• Be able to use evidence from virtual lessons to provide high quality feedback in formal and informal ways.
Part 2 (Sept. 17) - Strengths-Based Coaching: Giving Teachers a Seat at the Coaching Table
Session Description: The purpose of this sessions is to develop leaders’ capacity to provide coaching and support to teachers and helping them see the importance of using student work and student feedback in this environment is key. Leaders will practice coaching strategies that can be applied to both virtual and in-person teaching and support teachers at all levels of their careers.
Participants will:
• Know how strengths-based coaching differs from other coaching models.
• Understand how strengths-based coaching impacts teacher growth, student outcomes, and school culture.
• Be able to practice coaching for strengths-based coaching in a traditional and virtual setting.
