  Day 1 on September 21:  Understanding how to connect Policy to Career Readiness for Schools and Districts With Joseph Goins

 TOSS partner, Pathway2Careers (P2C) is a career readiness service provider that offers a collection of resources to support career readiness efforts in educational settings. The P2C approach places considerable emphasis on the use of regional labor market data to identify local high-value careers, ensuring that education practices enhance students’ access to good jobs in their communities and provide equitable access. Through Research that impacts policy, the session will conclude with practical applications that showcase work-based learning through high value careers.

Connecting Careers to Learning, Answering the age-old question: When  will I ever use this?

"By answering the age-old question “When will I use this in the real world?  we’re seeing remarkable levels of engagement from students. Because  when a student can see it, they can be it. When we connect careers to  learning we can collectively close the equity gap in education while  increasing the connection between education, employers, and economic  development.


 Day 3 on September 23:  Equipping Counselors and Teachers with effective PD Strategies for Career Readiness With Dr. Danielle Tallent

 This session will explore methods and strategies for supporting career readiness practices among counselors and teachers.  The benefits and weaknesses of traditional career readiness approaches will be discussed, along with the critical need to rethink and strengthen career readiness efforts.  Simple, easy-to-implement programs and opportunities to assist counselors and teachers in building career readiness knowledge and skills will be presented.  Free tools, such as the TSBA District Data Dashboard, will be introduced with information on how these tools can support career readiness in schools.
