The Latest in Literacy – Strategies to Support Reading 360° and the Science of Reading - 2 Part Series (August 31 & September 2, 2021 ~ 9:00am - 12:00pm CST)

The Latest in Literacy – Strategies to Support Reading 360˚ and the Science of Reading

The field of literacy instruction is rapidly changing. Evolving policies related to the Science of Reading and scientific insights into how children learn to read are reshaping our best practices. With barely one-third of students achieving a NAEP level of “proficient,” school and district leaders need to focus on these new insights to better support students’ literacy growth.

Participate in this engaging forum to gain insight into:

  • The Science of Reading and research on effective reading instruction

  • Methods to build foundational literacy skills and guide growth to third-grade proficiency

  • New practices we must adopt and long-term practices we need to abandon

  • How we can easily address the needs of most struggling readers

  • Why vocabulary and background knowledge are critical, but often overlooked, elements of reading achievement

  • How to enable teachers to propel all learning with the power of independent reading

  • Strategies to maximize reading motivation, especially for middle and high school learners
