Leading, learning, and change: Implementing New Laws In Tennessee 2022 - Aug. 18, 2022 (8:30am-12:30pm CST)

As teachers and students return for the 2022/2023 school year, everyone is focused on getting to know staff members, parents, and students and finding new ways to help everyone to excel.  In addition, each year the requirements, laws, and  rules change for Tennessee’s educators. As you begin this new school year, it is also your job as a leader to keep abreast of those changes.

This year, the TOSS Government Relations Team will host in-depth discussions of the most recent legislative session.  During these sessions,  the team  will do a deep dive into the legislation that passed this year, how it will impact you and your district, and what they are anticipating for the first session of the 113th General Assembly in 2023.

When we conducted our needs assessment in the spring, one of the top 10 requests from our 2021/2022 membership survey was a day together to dive into the new laws, the TISA funding formula, and accountability models coming soon to our state. Although this event will only begin those discussions, it will  offer you an opportunity to gain the knowledge you need  to plan for the work your school/system does with confidence.

The program will feature a rotation of presenter’s discussion of material and members discussion of those topics and how they may impact their own work. You will need a camera and a mic for this session. We anticipate 30-minute presentations followed by 30-minute discussion in small groups. We will have time for three rounds of discussion.
