Work based learning, Industry certification, and Embedding CTE Programs in K-12 Schools - January 30, 2024 (8:30AM-12:30PM CST)

The third in the series will be held on January 30, 2024, and will highlight your fellow Tennessee Public School leaders as they share the work they are doing in their schools. These presenters will highlight Farm to Table, Internships, and work-based learning plus other programs they want to share! You will hear Tabatha Ogle from Sevier County, Sam Brown and Marisa Wright from York Institute, and Lori Sexton from Bedford County. Tabitha Ogle serves as the CTE Director in Sevier County Schools. Tabitha will focus on the “Sevier Ready” program that aligns student internships and job shadowing experiences with career education and exploration. Then we will learn from Sam Brown, CTE Director and Marissa Wright, Agriculture Educator at York Institute as they share their work to bring the Farm to Fork and Feather to Fork initiatives to fruition in their school. The day will end with a presentation by Renny Whittenbarger with Anne Pearson and Michael Ritchie Cleveland City Schools. They will discuss their post-secondary opportunities and the importance of industry certifications in high school programming.
