Addressing the Rise in Concerning Student Behaviors (2 Part Series) -February 2, & 3, 2022 (8:30am-12:30pm CST)

Reports of concerning student behavior have significantly increased this school year. The reasons for these behaviors can range from the impacts of COVID-19 – isolation, depression, anxiety and aggression – to bullying, cyberbullying, substance abuse and lack of coping skills.

DAY 1 (Feb. 2, 2022) - Addressing the Rise in Concerning Student Behaviors: Suicide

Educational leadership programs don’t prepare teachers and administrators to help students cope with mental health issues, yet you are in schools every day with students who have experienced trauma and are in despair. You have the opportunity — and the obligation — to help them.

This training will address how multidisciplinary teams can identify, address and manage threats of harm to self within their schools. During the breakouts, participants will work through a case study. Please be sure to log in via your own device so you can use the case management platform.

DAY 2 (Feb. 3, 2022) Addressing the Rise in Concerning Student Behaviors: Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA)

The ability to identify and manage the mental health needs of students must be a top priority as we move forward. With limited staff, limited resources and the unknown of just how many students will require support, however, the idea of connecting the dots related to concerning student behavior can seem overwhelming or feel impossible.

This training will address how multidisciplinary teams can identify, address and manage threats of harm to others within their schools. During the breakouts, participants will work through a case study. Please be sure to log in via your own device so you can use the case management platform.
